Col. Nicholas Worthington was born on 29 Mar 1734, in St. Anne’s Parish, Anne Arundel County, Maryland and he died 1 Nov 1793 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He was the youngest son of Thomas Howard Worthington and Elizabeth (Ridgely) Worthington, third generation American natives. He was a member of the Committee of Observation; also, major of the Anne Arundel County Militia as well as a Justice of the Peace.
Nicholas married Catherine Griffith on 1 October 1751 and resided at “Summer Hill,” near Annapolis, Severn Hundred, Anne Arundel County. Their children and birth dates: Thomas Worthington, 7 June 1753; Nicholas Worthington, 1757; John Griffith Worthington, 1759; Charles Worthington, 9 Oct. 1759; Catherine Worthington Johnson, 27 Oct. 1761; Brice John Worthington, 1 Feb. 1764; Elizabeth Worthington, 27 June 1766; Achsah Worthington, 9 July 1768; and Sarah Worthington Goldsborough, 30 Aug. 1770.
