American Revolutionary soldier, Ensign Lemuel Wood, a commissioned officer, fought with Captain Theophilus Cotton’s Massachusetts Regiment, Third Company of Minute Men. (History of the town of Middleboro 1775). The Cotton’s Regiment took part in the siege of Boston, including Lexington, Concord, and Bunker Hill. Lemuel Wood appears on the Census of Middleborough 1790, 1800, and 1810. Lemuel Wood was born October 15, 1739, in Middleborough, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, and died July 4, 1808, in Boonville, Oneida, New York. He married Rebecca Tupper December 12, 1765 in Middleborough, Massachusetts, daughter of Thomas Tupper and Rebecca Bumpus. They had seven children. (The Atte Wode, Atwood, and Wood Family History).
