Ranger Ephraim Martin by Charles “Ed” Laidlaw NSSAR #174735

Ephraim Martin enlisted as a ranger in the company of Captain Stephens, and regiment of Colonel Bedell. He was at the battle of Saratoga, but for most of his service he was employed defending the frontier of Vermont. There is a 1771 charter for old Mooretown, Vermont which divides up the 3,000 acres of land, and Ebenezer Martin, brother of Nathaniel, was the head surveyor.
