The Michigan Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (MISSAR) has a full and meaningful slate of events planned for 2026—from board meetings and commemorations of our Patriot ancestors to a major America 250th signature event and a statewide PBS broadcast. Below is an overview of what’s coming so you can plan your calendars and join us in honoring the legacy of the American Revolution.


Saturday, February 7, 2026

MISSAR Board of Managers ZOOM Meeting

Time: 1:00–4:00 PM
Location: Online (Zoom)
Details: Zoom link to be provided in late January (TBD)

We begin the year with a virtual Board of Managers (BOM) meeting, making it easy for members across Michigan to participate.

A secure MISSAR Zoom link will be circulated in late January via email and posted in the members’ area once finalized.

MISSAR BOM & Annual Meeting – Lansing

Time: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
Location:
Crowne Plaza Hotel Lansing – West

Host: Pvt. Ephraim Wheaton Chapter, co-hosting with MISSAR

Our in-person Spring Board of Managers and Annual Meeting will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Lansing. This is one of the key gatherings of the year, where members:

  • Conduct important society business
  • Present awards and recognitions

The Pvt. Ephraim Wheaton Chapter will be co-hosting this event with MISSAR. Details on registration, meals, and lodging will be circulated as we get closer to the date.

MISSAR America’s 250th Signature Event – Lansing

Time: 1:30–5:00 PM
Locations: 320 S. Walnut Street, Lansing, MI and 323 W. Ottawa Street, Lansing, MI

  • President George Washington Statue & Capitol Grounds
  • Michigan State Capitol Building
  • Heritage Hall & Atrium

Hosts & Co-Sponsors:
Pvt. Ephraim Wheaton Chapter co-hosting with MISSAR and other co-sponsors

This will be one of MISSAR’s premier America 250th signature events—a special afternoon in our state capital honoring the legacy of President George Washington and the ideals of the American Revolution. Planned activities include:

  • Wreath-laying ceremony at the President George Washington statue
  • Guided tours of the Michigan State Capitol Building
  • Reception in Heritage Hall, providing an opportunity for fellowship with compatriots, guests, and community partners
  • Elementary student art displays in the Capitol atrium, showcasing youth creativity and patriotism inspired by Revolutionary-era themes

Members, families, educators, and the public will all be welcome to attend. More information on timing, parking, and registration will follow.

MISSAR June BOM Meeting – Clarkston

Time: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM (facility reserved)

The June Board of Managers meeting will be hosted by the Jeremiah Clark Chapter at Clintonwood Park in Clarkston. This is an excellent opportunity for members to support a local chapter, enjoy fellowship, and stay engaged with society business mid-year.

Details on registration fees, meals, and lodging options will be announced once arrangements are finalized.

Statewide PBS Broadcast – Frontier to Freedom

Event: All Michigan PBS stations broadcast the MISSAR film “Frontier to Freedom”
Broadcast Time: TBD

Just ahead of Independence Day, PBS stations across Michigan will broadcast Frontier to Freedom, a MISSAR-supported film.

This broadcast will help share our Patriot heritage with families and communities statewide. Final station listings and broadcast times will be shared as soon as they are confirmed—please help spread the word to your local chapters, schools, and civic groups.

Patriot Jonathan Barron Plaque Dedication – St. Clair

Host: Blue Water Chapter, with MISSAR co-hosting and others

The Blue Water Chapter will host a special cemetery ceremony to dedicate a Patriot plaque honoring Jonathan Barron. This event will include a formal dedication, patriotic observances, and the opportunity to commemorate a Revolutionary War Patriot whose service helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today.

Members are encouraged to attend in appropriate SAR attire and invite family, friends, and community leaders to join in this meaningful tribute.


Friday–Saturday, October 23–24, 2026

NSSAR Great Lakes District Gala & Meetings – Grand Haven

Location: Grand Haven, MI
Host: West Michigan Chapter, with MISSAR and NSSAR VPG co-hosts

Schedule Overview:

  • Friday, October 23 – Great Lakes District Gala
    • Time: 6:00–9:00 PM
  • Saturday, October 24 – Great Lakes District Meeting & MISSAR BOM
    • District Meeting: 8:00 AM–Noon
    • MISSAR BOM Meeting: Noon–4:00 PM

This two-day gathering in Grand Haven will bring together compatriots from across the NSSAR Great Lakes District for fellowship, recognition, and business sessions. The Friday evening Gala will offer a formal opportunity to celebrate our shared mission, while Saturday will feature both the District Meeting and a MISSAR Board of Managers session.

Hotel information, lodging reservations, meal options, and detailed registration instructions are still TBD and will be provided as soon as arrangements are completed.
