Happy Memorial Day from the Michigan Society SAR

Today, the Michigan Society Sons of the American Revolution joins communities across our state and nation in observing Memorial Day.

On this solemn and meaningful day, we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States of America. Their sacrifice secured and preserved the freedoms we continue to enjoy, and it is our duty to ensure that their courage is never forgotten.

This year carries special significance as we mark the 250th anniversary of America. As we look back to the founding generation of 1776, we are reminded that liberty has always required service, sacrifice, and devotion to something greater than oneself. From the Patriots of the American Revolution to the generations who followed, Americans have answered the call to defend the ideals first declared two and a half centuries ago.

For members of the Sons of the American Revolution, Memorial Day is also a time to reflect on the long chain of service that connects our Patriot ancestors to those who have worn the uniform in every era since. We honor not only the history of our nation, but the lives of those who made its continuation possible.

Across Michigan today, flags will be placed, names will be read, wreaths will be laid, and prayers will be offered. May these acts of remembrance strengthen our gratitude and renew our commitment to preserving the principles of liberty, citizenship, and patriotic service.

The Michigan Society SAR wishes all Americans a meaningful Memorial Day.

May we remember. May we honor. May we never forget.
