Pvt. James Call by James D. Stone NSSAR #187805

James Call was born on September 2, 1728, in Charlestown, Massachusetts. He was married four times and had eleven sons and four daughters. In February 1776 he served as a private in Captain Benjamin Wait’s Company of Hoisington’s Rangers which were based in Woodstock, Cumberland County, New York. (Woodstock is now a part of Windsor County, Vermont.) Later service included as a private in Captain John Benjamin’s Company in October 1777, and in Lieutenant Zebulon Lyon’s Company in October 1778. Five of his sons also participated in the militia.

James died February 2, 1807, and was buried in Quechee Cemetery in Windsor County, Vermont. His exact grave site is lost.
