Section J “The Legion Circle” of Oak Hill Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan is hallowed ground for some two hundred veterans. Most are from World War I but, also contains veterans from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. On land donated by Oak Hill Cemetery at the request of the Roosevelt American Legion Hospital, located in Battle Creek and a $1,500.00 endowment for perpetual care the “Legion Circle” was created in November of 1923. The circle was dedicated on 24 May 1924 when six WWI veterans were interned. Since that date almost 200 have been interned, with the last burial occurring in 1980.
