Letter from Sr. State President, Laurie Huber:

Members & Friends of C.A.R...

On behalf of the Michigan Society Children of the American Revolution – thank you for your generosity and support of the State Society! The 84th State Conference was FANTASTIC! (Click here for photos.) We were very pleased to have MISSAR 1st Vice President Paul Callanan at this weekend’s festivities. The support across the state of Michigan surpassed expectations. A check was presented during the banquet to Trish Burns from the Bay City Library in the amount of $13,595.05 for the restoration of the American Doughboy statue that stands in Pershing Park in Bay City. MARK YOUR CALENDARS for April 6, 2017 for the re-dedication event at 1:00pm at the park. More information will be coming.

The State Conference totaled 85 registrations, including 32 C.A.R. members and 53 seniors and guests! Our senior leaders had fourteen pages and aides organized and ready by 8:50am for the open business session. Following the morning reports, the members and guests enjoyed an hour with a storyteller doing a presentation titled ‘Hello Girls!’ Following the one hour presentation, members packed over 10 USO boxes to be shipped out later this month!

Greetings were brought by both the DAR State Regent - Diane Schrift, and 1st Vice President and Paul Callanan who also presented the State President with the C.A.R. Medal! The 2016-2017 Outstanding Society was awarded to the Ki-Ka-Ma-Sung Society with all societies being extended many awards and recognitions throughout the weekend. These members work hard and are dedicated to their societies. It was a very successful year!

We welcomed Mrs. Tammy Cruickshank and AJ McInnis who will be filling the remaining term for the Sr. Corresponding Secretary and Sr. 1st Vice President respectively. THANK YOU LADIES! National Convention planning is well underway.

Please note a few calendar items:

Our incoming State President elect – Natalia Johnston – is busy putting her details together for her year – MORE INFO TO COME!

WE NEED YOU IN 2017-2018 – we are looking adults to fill Senior Chairmanships next year. Consider serving as a Chairman to mentor a young patriot this coming year. You would offer support and encouragement, attend the State Conference and help them finish up a report for the conference. Please contact the Sr. State President for more information. We look forward to continued collaboration as well as participation in the many patriotic endeavors!

Any boy or girl under the age of twenty-two is eligible for membership in the National Society of the Children of the American Revolution who is lineally descended from a man or woman who, with unfailing loyalty, rendered material aid to the cause of American Independence as a soldier, sailor, civil officer, or recognized patriot in one of the several Colonies or States, or of the United States, provided that the applicant is personally acceptable to the Society."
